Dear Minister

Ministerial Briefing Paper – Ashmore Estate, Erskineville

I refer to your meeting on June 19, 2012 with representatives of the Friends of Erskineville (FOE) and the Alexandria Residents Action Group (ARAG) in relation to the Ashmore Estate development in Erskineville, and resident concerns relating to the proposed Local Environment Plan (LEP) for the City of Sydney and as submitted by the city council to your department for final approval.

Firstly please allow me to thank you on behalf of all resident representatives for the time that you gave us to state our case. It was and continues to be greatly appreciated.

You will recall at the meeting that resident representatives undertook to provide you with a Ministerial Briefing Paper on the subject of the Ashmore Estate development and the proposed LEP, and in particular in relation to both floor space ratios and heights of the proposed construction. Accordingly please find enclosed the briefing as undertaken to be provided by residents, and also photographs to highlight various aspects of the proposed development as it relates to the LEP.

I apologise that this exercise has taken some weeks to complete, but unfortunately some of the input has been delayed due to illness of various parties, and also the necessity to ensure accurate research before forwarding the briefing.

We trust that you will find the enclosed documentation of value, and that it will provide you with further insight into resident concerns and the proposed development in general.

Yours sincerely

On behalf of Friends of Erskineville and the Alexandria Residents Action Group

Mike Hatton OAM

President FOE

CC       Mrs Vanessa Speechley – ARAG
